While the weather for all of the R3 community’s international member base differs pretty wildly, here in the SF Bay Area it’s been hot and delightful. Our house has been 1000 degrees, shich is less good, but overall it’s been toasty and pleasant, everything’s in bloom, and spring has definitely sprung. Of course, last week we also had a rainstorm, so this yo-yoing of weather keeps rebooting the pollen output, with the effects you can imagine.

But it’s a good time to ride, to hang on the deck with fam, and to be thankful for what you have, no doubt!

Wifebot(tm) and I are restoring her old doll house for Z’s 3rd birthday upcoming. New flooring, new paint, the like. Most of the furniture and accessories are getting stockpiled until she’s older as they are of a toddler-inappropriate level of delicate detail, but some of the furniture is good to go.

Anyway, this guy is from a set of figures she had from the day. I love his 70′s swagger.

Last weekend they closed Doyle Drive, the long ascending approach to the Golden Gate Bridge that towered over the Presidio, and demolished it. This is part of a large redevelopment project that is designed to replace this aged structure, which opened with the bridge in the 30s, with a new seismically sound roadway. They spent the last year or so building the southbound tunnel and a retaining wall for the higher Presidio grounds that were adjacent to Doyle, and now went at the span in 72 hours, tearing it apart and laying in new temporary roads that snake around through the demolition. It’s pretty amazing stuff to see.

I’m glad wifebot(tm) snapped this pic, because a day later, I was riding with her and less material was standing than here, and a few days later, it was all pulverized. They used large bulldozers, cranes and construction equipment from the Trade Center site to snap, pummel and shear the span, segment by segment, until only the supports remained, then knocked them over and broke them down. The rate at which this happened was quite impressive.

My favorite Beastie, MCA was a tibetan rights activist, latter day buddhist, responsible father and thoughtful artist, and his cancer’s return, leading to his death today, saddens me greatly, As a fan, a father, and a son of a cancer survivor.

all this extra bullshit just for keys? keys which are AVAILABLE BY DEFAULT ON THE SCREEN? i’m seriously, SERIOUSLY having a fucking rage attack right now. fine. you wanna use a little keyboard with your iPad, go for it. be as overkill as you can, go ahead and decimate half of the draw of a compact touchscreen tablet device, who am i to care, you’re the one who looks like a fool. but now, HEY! let’s take that idea and make it 50 TIMES LESS FUCKING CONVENIENT. double the thickness, double the weight, half the versatility (have to take the iPad off to use portrait view), it’s not hard-connected so you’re still using bluetooth DESPITE BEING PHYSICALLY ATTACHED — everything about this is fail.
